Jerusalem, Israel - Jan. 25, 2026 - Today (Sunday, 25 January 2026), President Isaac Herzog participated in an event marking 2,000 kidney transplants carried out in Israel. This unprecedented number has been recognized as a Guinness World Record. The event was organized by the Gift of Life (“Matanat Chaim”) organization, which works to encourage voluntary kidney donations in order to save lives.
President Herzog:
“Here and now, nearly 2,000 voluntary kidney donors are gathered together in one place from every different walk of Israeli life. Thank you, Matanat Chaim—truly a gift of life.
“This is absolutely a world record. A world record for humanity. A world record for solidarity.
And a world record for the deep and full commitment to one another,
the selflessness, the deep love of life and of people, that is so beautifully embodied in our nation.
“I was happy to learn that the flawed decision to reject the submission to the Guinness Book of World Records, simply because it came from Israel, was reversed, and now it is officially a world record.”
