Baltimore, MD - Sept. 16, 2025 - As the law enforcement partnership between Baltimore City and state agencies continues, FOX45 News continues to dig into the questions about the agreement, details about deployment, and strategies.
Gov. Wes Moore announced on Sept. 5 that the Maryland State Police and Maryland Transportation Authority Police would be working with the Baltimore Police Department to help provide more visibility in areas around the city.
“What you see here is a collaboration and for the citizens of Baltimore city, we’re here with you,” MDTA Chief Col. Joseph Scott said at the time of the news conference announcing the partnership.
“We intend to go out and provide the services that you need to feel safe and enhance the safety you already feel. It doesn’t matter if you are traveling around the state of Maryland, through the city of Baltimore, everyone has the right to feel safe, to feel secure, and we intend to do everything in our power to continue that,” MSP Superintendent Col. Roland Butler added.
Gov. Moore insisted the renewed partnership didn’t have anything to do with President Donald Trump threatening to send the National Guard into Baltimore. According to an MSP spokesperson, the renewed partnership started Sept. 5, and it marked the “first time since Nov. 2020.” The collaboration will help build on the progress made in the city when it comes to reducing violent crime in the city, according to MSP.
How many arrests made, tickets issued, and citations written are all data points that will be released later this week, according to spokesperson for Gov. Moore.
