For more than sixty years, until an advanced age, she taught Jewish children and educated them in Torah and fear of Heaven at the Talmudical Academy of Baltimore, with devotion and great love—for her family and for her students. She devoted herself to the Torah of her husband, our father of blessed memory, and to his students, particularly during the years he served as a Rebbe at Yeshivas Ner Yisrael in Baltimore, in the early period of Torah’s flourishing in America. Her fine character traits were renowned and prai...

Baltimore, MD - Jan. 27, 2026- Tuesday of Parshas Beshalach, is a special day. Seforim tell us that it is extremely prudent to utilize this day to pray for parnassah, livelihood, for the next 12 months. It is a widespread and accepted custom to recite “Parshas Hamonn,” the portion in the Torah that describes the way Hashem provided monn (i.e., parnassah from heaven) for the Yidden in the Midbar. This can be found in Sefer Shemos, Perek 16: 4-36. It is customary to read the pesukim twice and the Targum once, and also to recite a short tefillah for sustenance beforehand.  (Click here for the parsha, including the Targum Onkelos.) Reciting this parsha reminds us that just as Hashem sustained the Jews then, so too, He – and He alone – provides for each and every ...

Baltimore, MD - Jan. 27, 2026  - On Sunday, January 11, the JES Educator Expo 2026 brought together educators, families, and community partners for an afternoon that was warm, joyful, and deeply affirming. Close to 35 educators and vendors shared their work with approximately 75 attendees, creating a space that felt less like a conference and more like a celebration of teaching, creativity, and connection. From the moment presenters arrived, there was a palpable sense of excitement. Tables filled quickly with materials, tools, and ideas that had been living—often quietly—inside classrooms across our community. Educators were eager to share approaches that had been successful with their own students and just as eager to learn from others who share a passion for excellent t...
