Baltimore, MD - Nov. 10, 2025 - About 6 years ago, when Rabbi and Mrs. Mordechai Ginsberg, of London, England, had to be with their daughter who was being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital for a few months, it meant moving with their entire family to Baltimore. “All Bikur Cholims are wonderful organizations, but the Bikur Cholim of Baltimore had something which was outstanding,” shares Rabbi Ginsberg. “When a family member is in the hospital, the whole family gets turned around for that choleh, but the family usually goes on, and the problems we face - and the things we must do daily - goes on. It’s not like everything stops because a member of the family is hospitalized, so, it makes life very hard. Usually, there are a lot of askanim in a community who are involv...
A Maryland commission is recommending that the state do away with its practice of automatically charging youth as adults for certain crimes, saying it doesn’t improve public safety and can harm the youth. The nine-page, heavily footnoted report from a workgroup of the Commission on Juvenile Justice Reform and Emerging and Best Practices is the first recommendation, since the commission was overhauled last year. “This practice fails to protect communities. Instead, it disproportionately impacts children of color, diverts resources away from critical services for children and families, places children in dangerous environments that more often result in subsequent violent or general criminal behavior,” says the report, which was approved by the commission Oc...
President Trump pardoned a list of top allies including Rudy Giuliani in connection with efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to the U.S. pardon attorney, Ed Martin. The list of pardons includes high-profile figures like Trump’s former chief of staff Mark Meadows, lawyers Giuliani and Sidney Powell, as well as dozens of others. An administration official confirmed the news early Monday morning. A document released by Martin on Monday said the figures would receive a “full, complete and unconditional” pardon. Giuliani and Powell were pivotal in efforts to pressure legislatures in key states to reject Joe Biden’s victories, while Meadows set up meetings and called Georgia ...
Airlines have already canceled or delayed over 2,000 flights as of Monday morning due to the ongoing government shutdown and the FAA's recent order to scale back air traffic.  According to data from Flightaware.com, flight cancellations across the U.S. piled up to 1,540 as of 7:30 a.m., with flight delays so far totaling 1,142.  U.S. airlines canceled more than 1,500 flights Saturday and more than 2,900 Sunday to comply with an FAA order to reduce traffic as some air traffic controllers, who have gone unpaid for nearly a month, have stopped showing up for work.  The FAA implemented a 4% mandatory reduction in flights this weekend to manage staffing. That will increase to 6% on Tuesday and 10% reduction by this upcoming weekend.  The del...
In Kelm, they focused on how to live — but also on the great avodah of how to leave the world with calm and faith There are moments in life when the clouds of confusion lift, and we’re left to survey our world with clarity and a sense of purpose. I suspect that I’m not alone in identifying Rosh Hashana 5786 as one of those moments. Any one who, like me, stood in Ramat Beit Shemesh’s Gra shul during Shacharis likely experienced the same thing as Ouriel Dzikowsky z”l entered in a wheelchair. Hooked up to an oxygen tank and breathing with great difficulty, Ouriel’s arrival was hard to miss. His struggles were the result of the aggressive disease that had reduced him from a healthy young man to one fighting for every breath. To...

Baltimore, MD - Nov. 9, 2025 -  Members of Maryland Free State Post 167 of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA proudly represented the Jewish veteran community of the greater Baltimore area at the Howard County Veterans Day Parade in Columbia, Maryland. Since the Baltimore City Veterans Day Parade took place on Shabbat — when Post 167 does not participate — the Howard County parade offered an excellent opportunity for the post to take part in honoring all who have served. With several Post 167 members living in Ellicott City, Columbia, and Pikesville, the event was a fitting choice for participation. In attendance from the Jewish War Veterans were Kate Swedlow (Post 888); Mike Zippert (Post 167, JCC); Dan Berkovitz (Post 167 Commander); Col. Andy Wolkstein, USAF (Ret.), C...

Washington, D.C. - Nov. 9, 2025 - There are now enough Senate Democrats willing to back a revamped plan to reopen the government.  A source familiar with the newly-unveiled plan told Fox News Digital that there are enough Senate Democrats ready to join Republicans for a key vote Sunday night as Congress readies to reopen the government.  The latest development comes after an updated continuing resolution was revealed that would reopen the government until Jan. 30, 2026, reverse firings of furloughed workers carried out by the Trump administration and ensure that furloughed workers get back pay.  Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins, R-Maine, led the bipartisan deal, but a trio of Democratic caucus members, Sens. Angus King, I-Maine, Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., and Maggie...
It was a Tishah B’Av afternoon in the 1970s at Camp Munk, and the air was heavy with the lingering emotion of the morning Kinnos. As the crowd began to disperse, a counselor, 20-year-old Ezra Neuberger, stood up and said softly, “If anyone’s interested, I’d like to share a few words.” Among those who lingered was a 13-year-old boy who would one day become the camp’s director, Rabbi Pinchos Munk. He still remembers that moment vividly. “We figured that if Ezra had something to say, it was worth listening to,” he recalls. What followed was unforgettable. For the next seven hours, that small group of 25 boys remained spellbound as Ezra  sat on a rock outside the beis medrash, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Camp Munk, and spoke f...
