It was a Tishah B’Av afternoon in the 1970s at Camp Munk, and the air was heavy with the lingering emotion of the morning Kinnos. As the crowd began to disperse, a counselor, 20-year-old Ezra Neuberger, stood up and said softly, “If anyone’s interested, I’d like to share a few words.”
Among those who lingered was a 13-year-old boy who would one day become the camp’s director, Rabbi Pinchos Munk. He still remembers that moment vividly. “We figured that if Ezra had something to say, it was worth listening to,” he recalls. What followed was unforgettable. For the next seven hours, that small group of 25 boys remained spellbound as Ezra sat on a rock outside the beis medrash, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Camp Munk, and spoke f...

In attendance from the Jewish War Veterans were Kate Swedlow (Post 888); Mike Zippert (Post 167, JCC); Dan Berkovitz (Post 167 Commander); Col. Andy Wolkstein, USAF (Ret.), C...

Washington, D.C. - Nov. 9, 2025 - There are now enough Senate Democrats willing to back a revamped plan to reopen the government.

The latest development comes after an updated continuing resolution was revealed that would reopen the government until Jan. 30, 2026, reverse firings of furloughed workers carried out by the Trump administration and ensure that furloughed workers get back pay.
Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins, R-Maine, led the bipartisan deal, but a trio of Democratic caucus members, Sens. Angus King, I-Maine, Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., and Maggie...
Our Moadim
Relationship with Shabbat
Our last piece studied the significance of Shabbat, the holy day that signifies our relationship with Hashem and occurs each week. In addition to Shabbat, Hashem commands us to observe Moadim — holy days that also signify our relationship with Him,[1] but occur once a year.
Like Shabbat, we are prohibited from performing work on the Moadim, but for a very different reason. Shabbat prohibits work because the goal is to commemorate Hashem’s cessation of work on that day. On Moadim, we refrain from work to distinguish the day, celebrate it, and focus on its message and theme.[2]
Importance
Celebrating the Moadim properly is of great significance. One who disrespects them loses their portion in the Next World.[3] This is because the Moadi...

Hamas has handed over remains believed to be Hadar Goldin, an Israeli soldier who was killed in 2014 and his body held as a bargaining chip for over 4,000 days, Israel said Sunday.
Goldin was serving as a lieutenant in the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Givati Brigade when he was killed on Aug. 1, 2014, two hours after a 72-hour ceasefire took effect that ended that year’s war between Israel and Hamas.
"We are due to receive the body of Lt. Hadar Goldin this afternoon," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced at a government meeting earlier Sunday. "We have a legacy from the founding of the state – from the War of Independence to the War of Redemption – to return our soldiers who fell in battle, and we are doing that."Hamas announced ...
Baltimore, MD – Nov. 8, 2025 – After experiencing the high of Simchas Torah, our simcha quickly turned to sorrow with the shocking news of the untimely petirah of Rabbi Hauer, ZTV”L. At nearly the same time, we received the tragic news of the passing of a dear friend to many, and nephew of Rabbi Hauer — former Baltimorean Ouriel Dzikowsky, Ouriel ben Chaim Mordechai, Z”L, after a long and difficult illness.I first met Ouriel at a meeting for my daughter’s school, Bnos Yisroel. I immediately gravitated toward this talented, sweet, and dedicated young man. He was sharp, and I could sense that he was driven by a genuine desire to help the school. Our daughters were in the same grade and were friends, so it was especially nice to make this connection.
