Israel has effectively conceded control over the Morag Corridor, based on the maps it presented to hostage negotiation mediators, two sources familiar with the details told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday. US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, said that negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza were going well. Earlier, a meeting was held between the Israeli delegation and the Qatari and Egyptian delegations, during which Israel presented new maps reflecting additional flexibility on its part. A source involved in the negotiations told the Post: “The focus now is no longer on the Morag Corridor; it’s on the Israeli presence in the Rafah area. That’s where the discussions are currently centered.” According to the source,...

Baltimore, MD – July 16, 2025 – New bike lane safety poles have been installed on Greenspring Avenue near Willow Glen, in front of the Flora Park Apartments, as part of an effort to create safer streets for cyclists. While the intention is commendable, many in the community have expressed concern about how it’s playing out in practice. Several drivers report that the lane now feels too narrow for two vehicles to pass simultaneously—especially when a bus or larger vehicle is involved. “Yesterday I had to wait for a bus to pass before I could continue driving,” one resident shared with BJL. “There was just no room for both of us.” Others are worried that the placement of the poles could actually create more danger for cyclists. “For bike...

He is the hottest topic in New York City right now, for better or worse. Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor, has been supported by many and criticized by many more for his stance on how to run New York City. There is one comment in particular though that has drawn sharper criticism than others. According to the New York Times, on Tuesday he addressed that issue to local business leaders saying he would no longer use the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which has been seen as a call to violence against Jews, and would “discourage” others from doing so. The phrase has been used by opponents of the war in Gaza and Mamdani had refused to condemn it, until now. It’s a big shift for Mamdani who even though he has the Democratic nomination will still...
President Trump denied that he was planning to attempt to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell after polling Republican lawmakers during a closed-door meeting about whether he should oust him. “We’re not planning on doing anything,” Trump told reporters at the White House, adding later, “I don’t rule out anything, but I think it’s highly unlikely. Unless he has to leave for fraud.” The president suggested he could attempt to remove Powell for cause, arguing the central bank spent too much money on renovations of two historic office buildings. Trump has for years raised the prospect of firing Powell, but has stopped short of doing so. The president has grown increasingly frustrated with Powell in recent months. The president...

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he is “in no rush” to talk to Iran, even though the Islamic Republic is hoping to engage in discussions with the United States. Speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said, "They would like to talk. I'm in no rush to talk because we obliterated their site," a reference to the US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites last month. His comments come a day after Iran's foreign ministry announced that it has "no specific date" for a meeting with the United States regarding its nuclear program. The announcement was made by foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, who stated that no specific date, time, or location has been determined for a possible meeting between top Iranian and American diplomats. He accused the...
Baltimore, MD - July 15, 2025  - Baltimore’s federal delegation gathered in City Hall Monday to highlight progress on some of the city’s longest-running struggles, such as lowered crime rates, fewer vacant properties and reductions in overdose deaths. But the successes were overshadowed by recognition that actions from the Trump administration could disrupt future progress in those areas. “It’s great to be here with the best federal delegation in the country,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott told reporters after a meeting with some of Maryland’s top Democrats. “Especially right now as congressmen across the country are voting to raise costs and strip them of their basic rights and needs, and we are grateful to have this team fighting for us.&r...
