US President Donald Trump announced the US's Golden Dome missile defense system on Tuesday, stating that the US helped Israel with Iron Dome, but has more advanced technology than Israel does.
Trump stated on Tuesday that Canada expressed interest in joining his Golden Dome missile defense system, that the US would assist Canada, and "we will work with Canada on pricing."
Speaking at the White House, Trump said the defense shield, which would cost some $175 billion, should be operational by the end of his term.
Trump also noted that "everything in the Golden Dome will be made in the US."
Trump added that General Michael Guetlein, vice chief of space operations, would lead the project.
The Golden Dome is estimated to cost tens of billions of dollars and take years t...
Baltimore, MD - May 20, 2025 - The FDA announced today (May 20, 2025) a recall on certain cucumbers purchased from Bender Growers in Florida. Seven Mile has been notified by one of our Produce Suppliers that we were sold some cucumbers from the affected lots. As soon as we were notified, we pulled all possibly affected items from our shelves. However, it is possible that some of the Super Select, Large Loose (unwrapped) cucumbers that were sold in our store between May 10th and May 20th (at 4PM) may have been covered by the recall.
If you still have that product, according to the FDA you should not consume it and you may return it to the store for a full refund.
Please note that this recall only affects the Super Select, Large Loose (unwrapped) Cucumbers as shown below. All...
Hamas is refusing to agree to a deal based on the Witkoff proposal, despite Israel's agreement to the deal, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement on Tuesday evening.
For more stories from The Media Line go to themedialine.org
"Israel agrees to the American proposal for the return of the hostages, which is based on the Witkoff framework," the statement read. "This proposal was recently conveyed to Hamas through the mediators, but so far it continues to cling to its refusal."
The statement confirmed that senior-level negotiators will return to Israel, while a working team will remain in Doha.
The Jerusalem Post reported that the remaining team in Doha is staying to show that Israel is still willing to make efforts to reach a deal.
However, I...
Annapolis, MD - May 20, 2025 - Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed the $61 billion state budget and the so-called budget reconciliation bill that includes a series of fee increases and a new 3% sales tax on technology services used by businesses.
Business groups and Republicans have said that the business tax will force some to leave Maryland. Moore said the budget closes a $3 billion deficit and addresses a changing Maryland economy brought on in part by the Trump administration’s budget cuts and tariffs.
Among the fees increased are car registrations. Those fees have doubled. Another bill increases safety rules for workers, including requiring parole and probation agents and corrections workers to wear body cameras.
This is the last scheduled bill signing. A...
Passengers on Southwest Airlines flights will soon be required to keep their portable chargers in plain sight while using them because of concerns about the growing number of lithium battery fires in a new policy that other airlines may adopt.
Southwest announced the new policy that will go into effect May 28 and said passengers may already have seen notifications about the industry-leading rule when using the airline's app.
There is growing concern about lithium-ion battery fires on planes because the number of incidents continues to grow yearly, and devices powered by those batteries are ubiquitous. There have already been 19 incidents involving these batteries this year, following last year's record high of 89, according to Federal Aviation Administration statistics.

The United Kingdom on Tuesday announced it would pause free trade talks with Israel after Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was horrified by the military escalation in Gaza. The UK also announced further sanctions and said it will summon the country's ambassador.
"While the UK government remains committed to the existing trade agreement in force, it is not possible to advance discussions on a new, upgraded Free Trade Agreement with a Netanyahu government that is pursuing egregious policies in the West Bank and Gaza," the government said in a statement.

Additionally, the UK will place sanctions on a number of individuals and groups in the West Bank, who it said have "supported, incited and promoted violence against Palestinian communities...
Delta Air Lines says it will resume daily nonstop flights to Tel Aviv from New York’s JFK airport starting today.
“The decision to resume the route on May 20, which was temporarily suspended in response to ongoing conflict in the region, follows an extensive security risk assessment by the airline,” Delta says in a statement. “Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports.”
The US carrier says a travel waiver will be valid for customers who purchased tickets to Tel Aviv on or before May 5 for travel through May 25.
On May 4, Delta halted all flights to Tel Aviv after a ballistic missile from Yemen struck an area of Israel’s main international airport.
The Israel Defense Forces Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said that aid trucks had entered the Gaza Strip on Monday, following the recommendation of military officials.
This shipment, consisting mainly of baby food and essential products, was subjected to thorough security control, COGAT said.
"The IDF will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip while making every effort to ensure that the aid does not reach Hamas."
This resumption of deliveries comes after the decision of the Israeli security cabinet to again allow the transport of humanitarian aid in the face of increasing international concerns about the situation of Palestinian civilians. No aid has entered since March 1.
Alongside this announcement, protests of an unu...
Israel - Hamas War day 592: Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who is also the country's foreign minister, said that Doha blames Israel for not ending the "tragic war."
He said that Qatar "expected the tragedy to end after the release of Edan Alexander, but the continued attacks are harming the chances for peace. Despite the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to end the tragic war, we are witnessing the failure of efforts to achieve calm, due to Israel's irresponsible and aggressive behavior, which limits any chance of peace."
US Special Envoy for Hostages Adam Boehler said at the Jerusalem Post Conference in New York that he believes a deal between Israel and Hamas is "getting closer and closer," adding that, if Hamas wants to come ...
Jerusalem, Israel - May 20, 2025 - It feels like things are falling apart, right? Like the entire world is closing in and turning on us, right?
It feels like we are alone and with no end in sight. Like we are being punished and isolated because we just want to exist, right? Like there’s no light at the end of the (terror) tunnel.
So let me reassure you, that feeling? Don’t worry,
I feel it too. We all do. Want to know why? Because the media wants you to feel that.
The media wants to isolate Israel and create tension between the US and Israel, tension that does not exist in real life.
But let’s just make some order here.
A few hours ago, as you may or may not have heard, leaders of Britain, France, and Canada issue joint stat...
Yemen’s Houthi rebels claim they will enforce a “naval blockade” of Haifa port, warning that ships heading there are now “targets.”
The Houthis will “begin working to enforce a naval blockade of the port of Haifa,” says military spokesman Yehya Saree. “All companies with ships present in or heading to this port are hereby notified that, as of the time of this announcement, the aforementioned port has been included in the target bank.”
The Houthis have claimed a similar blocked of Ben Gurion Airport, but have not come close to such a goal, even in light of a recent missile attack on the airport that caused a slew of foreign carriers to cancel their routes.

Washington, D.C. - May 19, 2025 - Close to 130,000 Marylanders could lose some amount of Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp, benefits under the plan, according to one estimate, with 71,000 at risk of losing benefits entirely. Because it is one of the 24 states with error rates of over- and underpayments above 10%, the changes could mean Maryland would be on the hook for up to 25% of the cost of SNAP, which is currently !00% federally funded.
The U.S. House Agriculture Committee approved, 29-25, Wednesday evening its portion of Republicans’ major legislative package that includes a provision that would shift to states some of the responsibility to pay for a major nutrition assistance program.
